DENVER -- Passengers boarding AeroMexico's first nonstop flight from Denver to Mexico City received red roses Sunday afternoon. The flight took off after a ceremonial ribbon-cutting welcoming the airline's new service at Denver International Airport. Frank Galan is vice president of the U.S. division of AeroMexico. He has said passenger traffic trends indicate there is a demand for daily, direct flights from Denver to Mexico City that isn't being met.
"We were able to bring a full plane in and a decently full plane going back to Mexico," Galan said. Galan said the coming months include several heavy travel periods to Mexico, including spring break in March. Flights will be cut back to three to four flights a week during low season. "The next few months are going to be the months that makes or breaks us," Galan said. "Right now, the loads look very, very positive."
