Renewable Energy Use On The Rise

Businesses Not Waiting For Government Programs

It seems that almost every candidate running for office talks about the need to develop clean alternative fuels, but some businesses aren't waiting for the government.

For the past year, Jax Fish House in Denver has been using wind power for its electricity.

It costs about 15 percent more, but Jax's general manager, Adam Reed, believes it is money well spent.

"It's a sacrifice we are excited to make because of the immediate environmental impact it can have," he said.

Jax is buying renewable energy tax credits that are used to support wind farms around the country.

"It's the right thing to do," Reed added.

Renewable Choice Energy of Boulder sells energy credits.

Quayle Hodek said wind energy is the fastest-growing source of new energy in the country.

He expects wind to account for 20 percent of electricity in the next 15 to 20 years.
