DENVER -- The longest coaster in North America is opening Friday and you won't have to travel to the other side of the world to experience it all.

The Outlaw Mountain Coaster will open at noon and will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, but will shift schedule starting Sept. 25 through October 22, when it will run on Saturdays and Sundays only from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To ride the coaster, children will have be more than 38 inches tall and will only be allowed to ride in the front seat of the sled. The driver must be at least 54 inches tall and be 16 years of age.

At more than 6,280 linear feet, the track near Christie Peak Express descends more than 400 vertical feet, rises up to 40 feet above the ground, and features dips, waves, turns and 360-degree circles.

But the fun doesn't stop there.

The gondola, Steamboat Bike Park and Coca-Cola Adventure Zone will also be open and will follow the same schedule as the coaster.

The coaster also will operate throughout the winter season, scheduled to begin Nov. 22, and during night skiing.

The cost to ride the coaster is $20 for a single ride, ages 7 and up; $15 for ages 6 and under.
