DENVER – Toby the Bernese mountain dog, the beloved PR pet for Loveland Ski Area who at times donned Von Miller’s jersey, has died.
His owner, Dustin Schaefer, posted the sad news to Facebook early Friday morning.
“I roll over in bed hoping it's just a bad dream. So many memories ran through my head as you passed away in my arms,” said Schaefer. “ I would never trade away the three years we shared together. I'll miss your hugs. I'll miss my best friend."
The manner and cause of Toby's death was not immediately known.
Toby, known as #VonToby by some, was Loveland Ski Area’s unofficial mascot and would sometimes appear wearing glasses, a cowboy hat and the Denver Broncos jersey with the No. 58, a la Von Miller.
Toby was under the care of his owner for three years.
