Thanks to everyone who expressed concern about my kitty! Diddums is improving and as of Tuesday's vet visit had gained 5 ounces - WOOT! WOOT! His intake has been upped to 50 MLs per feeding (not quite two ounces) and he's tolerating it well.
At least, that's what I'm told. Diddums is still in solitary confinement in the guest room. Marianne says it's already tricky enough to do the tube feeding without my "help." I have no idea what she means by that, especially when she says "help" in that tone of voice. Harrumph.
Marianne is trying to get Diddums to eat real food again, but so far, no go. A helpful reader suggested she try something really yummy and smelly, so she got some crab and mackerel food that made us swoon it smelled so good. Diddums? Not so much. Marianne is going to keep trying with some different flavors until she hits on something that will appeal to his taste buds. I've offered to eat anything he doesn't like, because, you know, I'm helpful like that. Marianne said no, because cat food is too rich for dogs. Rats.
The second update concerns my replacement (it kills me to write that; as if I could be replaced!), Puppy # 9. Marianne got an email from Becca at CCI asking if she and John wanted a puppy on October 3rd. They got all excited until I reminded them that we'll be on vacation that week on Martha's Vineyard. (I have no idea where that is, but whenever I mention it, people say "Oooh!" so it must be special. All I know is that it will be a long day of travel on a plane, a bus, a ferry and a car. We're going with our dogs-in-law Dave and Regina and other puppy raisers Diana and Pete plus CCI pups Olsen and Thor. Good times.)
Where was I? Oh, yeah -- Puppy # 9. Well, Becca said she might have another puppy on October 17th. No details on parents, litter letter or name yet -- or even if it's a sure thing -- but Marianne is already starting to make plans, just in case. We're hoping to hear more definite information in a week or two. I'll keep you posted.
Chow for now!
