Denver - Halloween can be great fun for trick-or-treaters. But family pets can face some scary dangers.

The strange noises and sounds can send your pets into a fright.

Dogs should be kept away from the front door. With many people visiting the home in strange attire, even normally calm pets might overreact.

Candy, especially chocolate, is toxic for animals. Do not allow children to share candy with pets, and keep the treats out of your pets reach.

If a pet wears a costume, make sure it is not constricting, causing your pet to trip, or blocking its vision.

And do not leave your pets outside on Halloween.
