BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. -- An alpaca found lost on a Boulder County road at the beginning of the month is now in custody of an animal rescue organization, and they're asking for your help to get her some much needed help.
The alpaca, nicknamed “LC” because she was found near Lyons Crest, is currently under the care of Knick O’Time Animal Rescue officials in Longmont, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Mike Wagner told our partners at the Daily Camera.
As no one ever came forward six days after the alpaca was reported as missing, the animal rescue organization will put her up for adoption -- after she heals from a much-needed eye surgery.
The alpaca was found to have a "severe eye injury" in her right eye, according to Knick O'Time Animal Rescue executive director Stephanie Wendorf.
Because it's run entirely by a group of volunteers, the organization does not currently have the money to provide the eye surgery for the alpaca, and so they're turning to the public for help. Knick O'Time is a 501(c) 3 charity, and all donations are tax deductible.
Deputies were continuing to investigate whether animal abandonment charges will be pursued, the Camera reports.
The alpaca was found on Indian Lookout Road near Lyons on Nov. 1.
