Jeb's DogBlog - Bells and Antlers

Chapter 46

Denver - December 19, 2013

Woe is me. Now is that most horrible time of year when puppy raisers thinks it's hilarious good fun to dress their pups in Santa suits, jingle collars, elf hats, reindeer antlers and other ridiculous outfits.  Bah humbug, I say.  Of course, whining does me no good at all. So, my colleagues and I submit to goofy gear and many, many photos. During one such photo shoot I composed a little song. Sing it slow, sing it sad.

*sigh*

Jingle Bells In D Minor

A day or two ago

I found myself tricked out

In bells and antlers

On my head.

It made me want to shout

I look ridiculous!

My friends all laugh at me.

I want to hide and softly cuss

And plot a chance to flee.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,

Hung around my neck;

Why does she

torment me?

‘Til I’m a nervous wreck!

Heck!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,

My ears ring constantly.

Oh! What hell this is for dogs

But most especially me.

She pulls out velvet boots

And puts them on my feet.

I struggle but she doesn’t care.

“Oh, kill me now,” I bleat.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,

Hung around my neck;

Why does she

torment me?

‘Til I’m a nervous wreck!

Heck!

Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells!

My ears ring constantly.

Oh! What hell this is for dogs

But most especially me.

*sigh*

I hope everyone has a wonderful, costume-free holiday.

Chow for now!
