HI! I'M JEB! I'M LOUD AND I'M PROUD.
"Oh, dear Dog, are you going to be like this for the entire time you're here?"interrupted Mina. "My ears hurt."
I was taken aback. "HEY, IT'S MY DOGBLOG NOW, AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT IT!" I protested.
"Well sure," she agreed, "But can't you be excited in what Marianne calls an 'inside voice"?"
I shrugged. "I GUESS SO, BUT IT'S NOT REALLY MY PERSONALITY."
Mina curled her lip at me. "Try it," she suggested menacingly. "Or else." She gave a little growl.
Gulp. OK, sure, I can be a little quieter.
Anyhow, I'm Jeb II. That means there was another Jeb before me, a CCI Facility Dog, and I'm named for him! How special is that? PRETTY DARNED SPECIAL.
Imagine my surprise when I got an email this morning from a fellow named Mark about Jeb the First! Here's what he said:
"Deb and I were the people on the end of Jeb’s (the original) leash for 8 years.
Deb graduated with Jeb in 2000 from the North Central region and Jeb worked alongside of her doing all types of Recreation and Occupational therapy throughout the State of Kansas, Oregon and various other places around the U.S. Jeb was a very special guy and brought a lot of joy and love to people coast to coast. It was a very sad day when Jeb died just before Christmas 2008. After some time, Deb and I decided to continue Jeb’s legacy by becoming volunteer puppy raisers. Our first pup, Ansel III, was a joy to have and is paired with a gentleman from Ohio who has a spinal cord injury. We are currently raising Carver II, and he turns in Feb 2013."
See, this is what I'm learning about Canine Companions. People do stuff like this all the time. Not only did Deb and Jeb do good work together all those years, but now Deb and Mark are giving back to CCI by raising puppies. Warms the kibbles of my heart, it does.
Mark finished by saying, "We would be interested in hearing about and seeing pictures of Jeb II. That name will always hold a special place in our home and we were so excited when we heard that the name Jeb would once again be in the CCI family!"
I made Marianne send off photos of me IMMEDIATELY. I'll try to live up to the legacy of Jeb the First. I bet he was LOUD and PROUD too.
CHOW FOR NOW!
