Things that go bump in the night can send your pet into a terrible fright. The strange noises and sounds can send your pets into a fright.

Local vet Dr. Dean Vicksman, Evans East Animal Hospital, advises pet owners to keep dogs away from the front door as many trick or treaters will be arriving in strange attire.

Candy, especially chocolate, is toxic for animals. Do not allow children to share candy with pets, and keep the treats out of your pets reach.

If a pet wears a costume, make sure it is not constricting, causing your pet to trip, or blocking its vision.

And do not leave your pets outside on Halloween.
