National Empanada Day: 7 places to get a good empanada in the Denver metro area

DENVER – You may not know it, but Saturday is National Empanada Day.

We’ve looked around and found the 7 greatest places where you can find an empanada before heading to the Rockies game later this afternoon.

1.) Maria Empanada – 1298 South Broadway Avenue.

These are the “best empanadas ever,” if you believe the reviews.

Not only does Maria Empanada have three different breakfast empanadas, but their main menu has nearly a dozen different options to choose from. Don’t forget to ask for the weekly empanada special.

2.) Lazo Empanadas – 1319 22nd Street

The empanadas at Lazo have “a nice variety of fillings” and offer choices for the conscious eater.

3.) Rincon Argentino – 2525 Arapahoe Road (Boulder)

The empanadas are “awesome, authentic and so reasonably priced,” says a Yelp reviewer.

With more than a dozen options to choose from, Rincon Argentino also sells trays of empanadas to take home and baked, which is always great for a party or just a quick dinner.

4.) Empanada Express Grill – 4301 West 44th Avenue

“The empanadas here were on point,” according to costumer who recently ate at Empanada Express Grill.

The restaurant offers at least ten different empanada options, as well as gluten-free and vegetarian choices.

5.) Los Parceros – 5922 East Colfax Avenue

Empanadas are typically made from flour, but are made with corn at Los Parceros.

The empanadas come five to an order.

6.) Areyto Puetorrican Food – All over

Areyto claims to be the first Puerto Rican food truck/restaurant in the Denver metro area.

People who’ve eaten at Leña have some good things to say about their very limited empanada selection.
