1. Colorado Black Arts Festival 2017

What: The theme for this year’s Colorado Black Arts Festival is “Art in Motion.” The festival will showcase local and regional talent performing jazz, blues, soul, hip-hop, dance, African drumming, storytelling and gospel.

Where: West end of Denver’s City Park, 2001 Colorado Boulevard

When: Friday, July 7 through Sunday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2. Colorado Springs Pride

What: Colorado Springs will be celebrating LGBTQIA+ pride this weekend at America the Beautiful Park. If you missed any of Colorado’s pride events in June, you won’t want to miss this one!

Where: America the Beautiful Park, 126 Cimino Drive in Colorado Springs, Colo.

When: Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

3. Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and 43rd annual Art in the Park

What: The Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and Art in the Park event offers artistry and color both on canvases and in the area making this weekend a staple of Steamboat Springs in the summertime.

Where: Bald Eagle Lake, 35565 South Highway 40 in Steamboat Springs, Colo. 

When: Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

4. Colorado Renaissance Festival

What: Prepare to dress up in period-accurate fashion, bring your appetite for turkey legs and get ready to return to the past, because the 41st annual Colorado Renaissance Festival is coming back to Larkspur this weekend.

When: Saturday, June 10 – Sunday, July 30

Where: 650 West Parry Park Avenue in Larkspur, CO.

Admission: Adults $24, Children between 5 and 12-years-old $12, Children under 5 get in free.

5. Hammond Candies Factory Tour

What: Did you know that you can take a free tour of Colorado’s very own Hammond’s Candy Factory?  Tours run every half-hour Monday through Saturday.  Watch candy makers as they hand-pull and twist oversize candy canes, ribbon candy, lollipops and chocolate.  It’s educational fun for candy lovers of all ages.  And bonus, every tour guest gets a free candy sample.

Where: Hammond’s Candies, 5735 N. Washington Street, Denver, Colo.

When:  Mondays – Fridays: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Saturdays: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (Closed Sundays)

6. Celestial Seasonings Factory Tour

What: Take mom out for tea this weekend.  A tour of Colorado’s very own Celestial Seasonings Factory that is. Factory tours run every hour Monday through Sunday.  And every tour includes a whiff of the Mint Room, guaranteed to clear any stuffy nose.  Afterwards, be sure to visit the sampling bar with over 100 kinds of tea to taste.  Note that kids must be at least 5 years old to tour the factory floor.

When:  Mondays – Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sundays: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Celestial Seasonings, 4600 Sleepytime Drive, Boulder, Colo.

7. 88 Drive-In Theater: Triple-Feature

What: If you long for the days of the drive-in movie theater experience, you don’t have to look very far. 88 Drive-In Theater is the only drive-in theater left in the Denver metro area still showing movies. Click here for the current line-up.
