Cardiac Arrest can happen anywhere and at any time. Now, a new app is helping pair those who are CPR trained with people who need it.
Pulse Point is now available for download for people living in South Metro, West Metro, Arvada, Poudre and Vail fire protection districts.
Once you download the app, you’ll be alerted if anyone near you is in need of CPR.
Here’s how it works:
Once a person calls 911, Pulse Point subscribers are notified if that emergency is near them and requires CPR. It’s an opportunity for those trained to jump in and help before medics are able to get there.
“It increases survivability, the layperson can be on scene within minutes and start CPR and use an AED and save that person’s life," said Tom Lombard, paramedic with South Metro Fire Department.
Pulse Point has two apps - one for those trained in CPR and another that will help you locate Automatic Electronic Defibrillators nearby.
A person’s chance of surviving when early 911 is paired with compression only CPR and use of a defibrillator can grow from zero to as much as 40 percent.
Once you’re a subscriber, you’ll be alerted to emergencies near you, anywhere in the country.
