Achiote Molido Ground Annato spice recalled after Salmonella detected

Check your spices, there's a recall for small bags of Achiote Molido Ground Annato spice.

Miravalle Foods, Inc. is recalling its 0.75 ounce packages of Miravalle brand Achiote Molido Ground Annato spice because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The recalled packages were distributed in Colorado, California, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Washington and Oregon.

The product is sold in 0.75 ounce, clear plastic package marked with lot #0015 & #0018 on the top of the UPC number (712810005020).

Routine testing by the FDA revealed the presence of Salmonella in some packages, officials said.

Production has been suspended while FDA, California Department of Public Health, and Miravalle Foods, Inc. try to find the source of the problem.

Consumers may return the spice to the place they bought it at for a full refund.
