10/22/2012 11AM Colorado Parent magazine's idea for decorating pumpkins using thumb tacks, duct tape and permanent marker.
Jack-o'lanterns are an essential part of Halloween. But not everyone likes having to deal with the big mess that goes along with hollowing out and carving a pumpkin.
Fortunately, there are other, really fun and creative ways to decorate Jack-O-Lantern that are no-mess.
Lydia Rueger from Colorado Parent magazine uses thumb tacks to create a decorative design on pumpkins.
Many craft, home improvement and discount department stores sell duct tape in a wide variety of colors and designs. You can cover your pumpkin using the tape, according to Rueger.
Permanent marker may also be used to create a design without carving into a pumpkin.
A little hot glue and some ribbon or cloth is another option for decorating your pumpkin.
