DENVER – Sometimes you have a wild idea for how you want to redo a room in your home but you don’t know where to start. The Brass Bed in Cherry Creek North can help with that.

The family-owned business has been a Denver staple for 40 years. They offer everything from furniture and linens to accessories. Most importantly, they offer ideas.

Denver7’s Theresa Marchetta recently checked out the store with 5280 Home editor Hilary Masell Oswald. They found on-trend items like matte metals in things like bed frames and lamps paired with indigos and deep greys for a luxurious look and feel.

If you’re looking for a simple design inspiration, think grey, white or ivory.

“Beautiful linen material, a little bit of grey or ivory or white makes a lovely bed that’s not complicated,” Oswald said while looking around the store. “It doesn’t feel like you’re trying to put a bunch of things together that may or may not work.”

Whether shopping at The Brass Bed or somewhere else, Oswald says you should take along whatever item it is that you want to center your design around or at least a picture of it, that way you can find other items that work well with it.  And while there may be some things you can buy inexpensively, there are some items, like linens, that Oswald suggests paying a little more for.

“I do believe when you’re investing in design for your home, spend the money on things you touch and use every day. You’re just really going to enjoy the simple things in life that way,” she said.
