DENVER -- Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy. Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in the Denver metro area this weekend.    

1. Denver Art Museum Free Day

What: Enjoy free admission to the Denver Art Museum.  Note that special exhibitions will require a ticketed admission.

Where: Denver Art Museum, 100 W. 14th Avenue Parkway, Denver.

When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

2. Denver Zombie Crawl 2017

What: Get in costume and have some scary fun at the 12th annual Denver Zombie Crawl! There will be vendors, makeup booths and a gathering to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” This year, organizers are stepping up the costume contest with bigger prizes – but you must register ahead of time to secure a spot in the contest. $5 for single entries and $10 for teams up to eight people.

Where: Skyline Park (16th St. Mall)

When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Skyline Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. First Caturday Denver at Cheesman Park

What: Denver’s first Caturday is a day to “reclaim the glory of the outdoors for our feline friends.” The day will be a day for delightful outdoor cat-napping and socializing. The event aims at helping felines get acquainted with the outdoors, among other things.

4. Apple Fest in Cedaredge

What: If you’ve never been to Cedaredge on Colorado’s Grand Mesa and want to discover new places, then head to the town to check out Applefest. More than 150 vendors will share the area’s wealth with locals and tourists alike. You can also check out the classic car and antique tractor show, live music and much more.

When: Saturday, October 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

5. Cherry Creek North’s 3rd Annual Art Feast

What: Cherry Creek North’s 3rd Annual Art Feast will offer a free art gallery walking tour at Fillmore Plaza, where you’ll receive a map of participating galleries, a list of featured restaurants in the area and information about the Art Feast Challenge, a walking gallery tour passport activity featuring a Cherry Creek North gift basket that will be awarded to one winner.

Where: Cherry Creek North between East 1st Avenue and East 3rd Avenue (north-south) and between University Boulevard and Steele Street (west-east)

When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

6. Annual Festival of Scarecrows in Arvada

What: The City of Arvada will be showing off scarecrows of all shapes, sizes and costume during it’s annual Festival of Scarecrows at the Olde Town Square. There will also be a costumed kids’ parade, a stalk maze, and a great pumpkin contest. There will be food and games.

7. Free Pumpkin Fest in Golden

What: Come celebrate fall in Golden! This event offers a lot of family-friendly festivities with pumpkins, live music, hay rides, a bouncy castle and more.

Where: Fairmount Park, 5222 Quaker Street in Golden, Colo.

When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
