DENVER – Denver’s Civic Center Park will become part-museum for a year starting next week, when the artwork of contemporary artist Ai WeiWei is unveiled to the public on October 17.

Ai WeiWei is bringing his world-renowned bronze installation “A Year with Ai WeiWei: Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads” to the Sea Lions Fountain on the north end of Civic Center Park.

The unveiling will be taking place at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by brief remarks about the exhibit.

Ai Weiwei’s “Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads” is a very significant initiative for Denver, not only in its literal size, but also in its importance in the global landscape of contemporary art,” said Denver Arts & Venues executive director, Kent Rice. “These pieces have traveled the world – from Prague to Toronto, from Boston to London, from São Paulo to New York.  We are honored that ”Zodiac Heads” will call Denver home for an entire year.”

The art installation will be on site through October 2018.

The ribbon cutting, reception and curator’s discussion are free and open to the public.
