DENVER – When you think about watching porn, you don’t often think about watching it in a theater full of strangers (much less if it’s queer porn), but that’s exactly what’s going to happen this weekend inside Denver’s Oriental Theater.

And it won’t be just any kind of queer porn – there will be no big studio names here, no recognizable actors from the industry and no carefully produced sex scenes.

Dan Savage’s HUMP! Film Festival will feature nearly two dozen short dirty movies (each less than five minutes long) created by your average Joe or regular Jane, to show the audience porn actors can come in all sorts of body types, shapes, ages, colors, sexualities, genders, kinks and fetishes.

“HUMP! is the porn festival for people who don’t like porn because they think it’s dehumanizing or they worry about people being exploited,” Savage told Denver Westword. “It’s deeply humanizing porn,” he added.

Robert Crocker, executive producer of Savage’s HUMP! Film Festival, said the purpose of the event is to help people understand there’s a wide range of sexual orientations, actions and expressions, and that showcasing these films will help demystify sexuality in all its forms.

“In the end, we hope our audience understands a bit more that no matter what parts you have to work with or whom you are attracted to, we are all seeking the same thing, sexual fulfillment,” Crocker told Denver7.

The 12th annual HUMP! Film Festival will be in town until Saturday, Sept. 30. Tickets can be found here.
