TAMPA, Fla. -- A random police check of sex offenders in the Tampa area has resulted in the arrest of a man who answered the door naked.

Police said they found a naked 15-year-old girl in the man's bed and that the two met in a Christian chat room.

Raymond Gomez, 52, was booked for investigation of a lewd and lascivious acts on a victim under age 16 and violation of probation after his arrest Sunday night.

Police said he was barred from accessing the Internet with a computer, but that he and the girl used a cell phone to contact each other in the chat room.

“A lot of times parents don't realize kids can get access to the Internet through their cell phone," said officer Felicia Pecora.

She became suspicious when Gomez kept pacing back and forth in front of his bedroom door and said his eyes "were as big as saucers" when he answered the door and saw her in uniform.

Gomez has been a registered sex offender since 2002, when he was charged with having sex with a child under the age of 16.

Detectives said there might be at least one more victim.
