There's a new way to target those problem cellulite areas and it's called LipoDissolve.

Doctors at La Fontaine Aesthetics Spa are doing the new treatment which is said to have very little downtime and is far less invasive than liposuction.

"LipoDissolve is a new technique here in Denver, that we use to inject medicines into local areas of fat that have been resistant to being lost," said Dr. Ken Oleszek.

After marking the problem area, Dr. Oleszek uses a special device to inject medication into the skin. The treatment can be done in a variety of areas including the love handles, the stomach and the upper arms.

"I like the idea that they get right to the area," Becky, a patient at La Fontaine, said.

Dr. Oleszek said LipoDissolve is still a cosmetic procedure, so he is careful about who he recommends the treatment to.

"The side effects that do occur are usually local, meaning you can get swelling, redness, itchiness and maybe some lumpiness for a period of time while the medicine works," Dr. Oleszek said.

Also, the changes from using LipoDissolve are gradual, and require usually 2-3 treatments to see any results, Dr. Oleszek said.

"It's still a work in progress but I'm feeling really good," Becky said.

Dr. Oleszek said the treatment has been around for about five years in other countries. The mixture that is injected in the skin is a combination of phosphatidylcholine deoxycholate. Other medical doctors say there is not enough research to prove the effectiveness and safety of this mixture.

Plus, the main ingredient is considered a supplement, so it is not FDA regulated or approved.

One treatment can cost between $350 and $400.
