FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A former Fort Collins high school coach faces charges of sexually assaulting a female student he was coaching.

Joshua Vasquez, 26, was being held Thursday on a $20,000 bond following his arrest last month. He was an assistant softball coach at Fossil Ridge High School for two years. He was arrested on Nov. 17 on a charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

The court sealed the arrest affidavit, so there is little information about the allegations against Vasquez. It was not known if the alleged assault involved a high school student. He has been ordered not to have contact with minors while free on bond.

Vasquez's father, Herman Vasquez, was the head softball coach at the Fossil Ridge, but has resigned his position. A letter was sent home with students on Wednesday that announced his resignation, but the charge against Joshua Vasquez was not mentioned.

He has a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 20.
