Many people like the idea of making their lives healthier but they don't know where to begin. Now there is a fitness program offered only in Denver that takes you by the hand and gives you that kick start you may need. It's called the Maxx makeover.
Laura Snyder is a busy mom, who like many others, doesn't take time for herself. But that is about to change. Snyder is working with personal trainer Marybeth Van Horn doing a program called the Maxx Makeover."It's designed specifically for them," said Van Horn. "Anybody can walk in here and do this. You won't believe the things you can accomplish in these two weeks."It's a two-week intensive program that is like a fitness boot camp but with some special pampering like two massages each week.A personal chef also comes to your home to make your meals for both weeks. There's 10 personal training sessions and many other add-ons like bronzing body wraps and even teeth whitening. On day one Snyder thought the program would be a breeze."I get all the pampering and the food and it's not going to be as hard, I don't think," said Snyder. But it didn't take long for her attitude to change."It's pretty intense," she said. A week into the program, she's doing lunges, bicep curls and hundreds of situps a day."I think what makes the Maxx Makeover program different than many of the other programs out there is the comprehensive approach. It's not only a workout or a diet or take some pills. It's all things put together," Van Horn said.Van Horn created the program after her own successful weight loss five years ago. "Once I lost the 100 pounds I started becoming interested in helping others," she said. "We are all about empowerment."It was that encouragement that Snyder needed to make it through the first few days."In the beginning I would wake up every morning and think I just don't think I can do this again today," said Snyder. But she kept at it and on day 14, it was time for the final weigh in and measurements.Snyder lost six pounds, 2.5 percent body fat and 12.5 inches overall."My overall health has improved. My blood pressure has gone down significantly," she said. "I feel really good. I accomplished my goals."Synder said it wasn't just a lifestyle change for her. Her whole family is now involved in making their lives healthier. The Maxx Makeover costs $1,500 with the price increasing depending on which add-ons you choose.
