Naturopathic Practitioner Arrested In Wheat Ridge

O'Connell Accused Of Practicing Medicine Without License

A Wheat Ridge man is under arrest for practicing medicine without a license after two of his alleged patients were listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Detectives arrested Brian Edward Patrick O'Connell, 36, Tuesday after a search warrant was executed at his Ward Road office.

Police identified O'Connell as the medical director of Mountain Area Naturopathic Associates in Wheat Ridge.

According to investigators, O'Connell provided naturopathic services to about 4,000 people.

Detectives collected evidence related to medical procedures and practices performed at the office.

O’Connell was released after his arrest, pending the filing of formal charges.

Naturopathic doctors use various natural methods to treat patients, including nutritional supplements, herbal medicine, homeopathy and lifestyle counseling.
