Voters in Pueblo go to the polls Tuesday hoping to clear the air on whether or not to ban smoking in their city.
They're voting on a proposed ordinance that would ban smoking in most indoor places including bars, bowling alleys and other businesses where lighting up has been allowed in the past.
The ordinance also requires employers to keep employees from having to work around secondhand smoke. In December, city council members approved the ban, but all four who supported it are the subject of recall on Tuesday's special election ballot.Angry tavern owners and customers then mounted a petition drive to suspend the smoking ban and put it to a public vote. Results of Tuesday were to be announced after polls close at 7 p.m.Several other Colorado cities have already banned smoking in most public places including Fort Collins, Boulder, Louisville, Alamosa, Montrose, Superior and Snowmass.
