DENVER -- Colorado has a new Web site to help people determine how severe their flu symptoms are and whether they should see a doctor. Gov. Bill Ritter announced the site Thursday. Ritter's office said Colorado is the first state to adopt the free, online self-assessment tool, which was designed in part by Colorado-based Healthy Circles.
The site allows users to share information with their doctors. Ritter says it can reduce demands on the health care system."You can get questions answered by going into the Web-based tool that we provide instead of calling a physician's office or an emergency room at a hospital," said Ritter. The state health department reported this week that six more people have died from the flu in Colorado, bringing the total this season to 20. Officials say all are likely from swine flu, also known as H1N1. Statewide, 1,058 people have been hospitalized with the flu this season. To learn more about the symptoms of the swine flu and take an online evaluation with results you can share with your doctor, visit AMAFluHelp.org.
