Some area hospitals said they are making changes to their hospital visitation policies following a rise in H1N1 cases.

Denver Health said they are asking parents to keep children ages 12 and under home and are not allowing them to visit patients.

"There are a large number of families that come into the hospital and we are very concerned the hospital is going to be where they catch influenza," said Dr. John Ogle, Denver Health's director of pediatrics.

Ogle said 99.4 percent of the influenza cases in the community are now H1N1.

The Children's Hospital in Aurora said they would implement similiar policies Oct. 1.

"Our visitation policies will be a little stricter than they have been in the past," said Roberta Smith of The Children's Hospital.

Smith said the hospital would keep the policy in place until April 14 and may tighten them further depending on the severity of H1N1 cases in coming weeks and months.

University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora said they haven't implemented policy changes but may soon as more and more of their staff test positive for the virus.
