DENVER -- If you've ever had crowns or veneers made, you know how important your dental impressions can be. At times, you might even have to go back to the dentist's office once, or twice to get that fit just right. Not any more. Technology is giving doctors and patients a near perfect impression the first time with the Cadent iTero digital impression system."For me, the main difference is when they put it back in. Before, you have to keep checking the bite then grind, check the bite again, grind some more," said patient Jeff Estey. The digital system is 3-D and gives doctors and patients images in real time of the patient's entire mouth. This helps doctors make immediate adjustments before sending the data to a lab. Dr. James Downs with the Center for Family and Cosmetic Dentistry said the system creates an exact replica of the tooth to help get that perfect fit. He said it's about more than just accuracy and saving time.
"You can just tell that as soon as they put it in, and you're like, 'It's perfect.' You're not coming back for a second adjustment," said Estey. To learn more about the Cadent iTero digital impression system, go to cadentitero.com.
