David Kaplan, is a sibling of a brother with autism who is attending this year's conference and will blog his experience as the conference moves forward.

Day Three:

It is stormy day in Denver, yet the sun has truly come out. As day three unfolds at the US Autism and Asperger Association's International Conference, I begin to realize how great of an experience this is for parents, professionals, and anyone wanting to gain information on one of the fastest growing epidemics in the world.

This morning's events have been as exciting as ever, with speakers including Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, Dr. Dan Rossignol, and Dr. Arthur Krigsman, all of whom discussed the brain-gastrointestinal connection in autism. Shannon Kenitz, a parent and professional, whose motivational speech on hopes and possibilities in the treatment of autism and related disorders, brought tears to many eyes, and culminated in a well-deserved standing ovation.

Highlights of the afternoon included workshops on nutrition, cognition, sensory processing, social skills and prioritizing therapies in the treatment of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders). Panel discussions have been quite informative, including today's in depth session on using hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the treatment of autism.

Being here is like no other experience, due to the fact that as an attendee you're not just listening to the speakers, but also interacting with world-renowned professionals treating more ASD individuals anywhere in the world. They gladly answer questions and spend time after their presentations in one on one discussions. It can safely be compared to a baseball fan getting tips from their favorite major league player.

Tomorrow is the final day of the conference, and I will be participating in a sibling discussion panel.
