Last week, 7NEWS told the story of Shannon Malloy and the injury she sustained from a car accident in January. Since then she's gained national and international attention.

Malloy suffered what's called an internal decapitation, meaning that her skull separated from her spine.

Malloy is undergoing physical therapy and is doing very well.

Her miraculous story has struck a chord with many people on blogs and newspaper articles all over the world.

"Amazing things can happen to normal people. I feel lucky to be alive. There's a reason I'm here, and I'm determined to figure out what that is and pursue it," Malloy said.

The accident left her with nerve damage, which makes her eyes cross. But the thing she said she misses most since her accident is swallowing and eating regular food.

"The smell of it drives me crazy. Every time I see a commercial all I can think is, 'That looks so good!' I even get cravings for things I don't like!" Malloy said.

Malloy has to be fed through a tube in her stomach. She said she wants to write a book about her experiences, once she's able to write again.

A benefit fund has been set up to help pay for her medical expenses. You can donate to the fund by going into any Wells Fargo Bank or by sending a check to the "Shannon Malloy Benefit Fund" in care of Wells Fargo, at 7150 Leetsdale Dr., Denver, 80224.

Malloy's mother said they are getting calls from magazines and talk shows across the country and from as far away as the United Kingdom.

Watch 7NEWS and stay tuned to TheDenverChannel for more updates on Malloy. She will be writing a blog about her experience, exclusively for TheDenverChannel.com.
