Westwood To No. 4 In World Rankings

POSTED: 9:06 am MST November 23, 2009

(Sports Network) - Lee Westwood rose to No. 4 in the world rankings after winning the season-ending Dubai World Championship on Sunday to capture the European Tour money title.

The 36-year-old Englishman moved up one spot from a week ago, matching his career-best ranking.

Tiger Woods, of course, remained in the No. 1 position and was followed again by Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker. Westwood's move bumped Paul Casey to No. 5 this week.

Padraig Harrington and Henrik Stenson held onto the sixth and seventh positions, while Sergio Garcia moved up a spot to eighth, bumping Kenny Perry to ninth.

Rory McIlroy, who surrendered the No. 1 spot on the European money list to Westwood, moved up three places to No. 10 after placing third in Dubai. That dropped Jim Furyk, Martin Kaymer and Ian Poulter down one notch apiece to positions 11 through 13.

Geoff Ogilvy, Sean O'Hair, Stewart Cink, Ernie Els and Lucas Glover remained 14th through 18th, respectively, while Retief Goosen inched up a spot to 19th, kicking Ross Fisher to 20th.
