DENVER -- Shorter days and cooler nights means Halloween is fast approaching. In this week's Family Friday report Consumer Champ Bill Clarke takes us to a new and growing tradition -- the pumpkin patch and maze.Pumpkins and More Farm deserves the name. For one thing, there may be upwards of 200,000 pumpkins on the property, all grown right there.Owner Al Green said they're all for the taking at prices that range from 50 cents to $10.
Green said the biggest pumpkin they've found so far this season weighed 103 pounds. That's an option there, even if you're just looking for something more manageable. Some families might be more attracted to the bales of straw laid out in a maze for the little ones. Off in the distance, the cornfield maze calls out to the adults. The maze is pretty tough because there are actually two mazes. And they cover a total of 13 acres. There are nearly five miles of trails cut in the shape of a pirate and a pirate ship. The maze is open every day of the week until sunset. And on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, bring a flashlight because they stay open until very late. Walking the maze after dark? Now that really is scary. The Pumpkins and More Farm is off 104th street, just north of the Northwest Tollway in Boulder County. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for kids ages 6 to 12. Cash or checks accepted only. There's a jumping castle, enclosed trampoline and face painting on weekends. For more information, visit PumpkinsAndMoreFarms.com.
