Family Friendly Friday: WOW Museum

If you're looking for some new places to take the whole family, Consumer Champ Bill Clarke has some ideas on places to go and things to do and he shows them off in his Family Friday report.

There are some undiscovered gems out there, places maybe you've never heard of or thought of where you and the kids can have some good fun. This week, he went to Lafayette in Boulder County to the World of Wonder museum.

A converted firehouse brings kids from all along the Front Range to that World of Wonder.

It's a place where kids can spend a few hours or a whole day learning by playing. They learn that education can be fun. They learn that a bubble is an example of surface tension and more.

Some of it is simple recreation, some is pretend play with costumes and wigs provided, and some of it is more challenging. One exhibit from Oregon's Museum of Science and industry helps kids take abstracts and turn them into reality, such as taking seven pieces and making it into a cube.

For older kids, it's a chance to learn about personal finance and nutrition all in a safe environment. There's a space to eat so kids and parents can bring food from home and not spend on museum meals.

And who says a penny doesn't go very far these days? At the WOW Museum, it literally gets the train going.
