Mars' DogBlog - Cat's Meow
Chapter 28
June 10, 2010Dewey here. You may remember me from Ross's DogBlog the day I was adopted.I'm writing this week because I got an email from Linda Titus, who was my foster Mom while I was at Almost Home Adoptions. She checks in very now and then to see how I'm doing. I was a particular favorite of hers. *blush* I think she's the cat's meow.
Linda is volunteering with Feline Alliance and wanted me to know about the good work they are doing. I think she may have also hoped that I needed a brother or sister kitty, but Marianne told her that Dozer and I are plenty. Shoot. I think we have room for another kitty but Marianne told me "NO" in a very firm voice, even after I pointed out that June is "Adopt a Shelter Cat" month. At any rate, Linda told me that this is "kitten season," which means that this is the time of year that feral and stray cats have lots and lots and lots of litters, which means that shelters and rescue groups are very busy. For instance, Linda said, Feline Alliance recently worked with several other animal welfare organizations to help some very unfortunate kitties in Aurora who needed some immediate help. Feline Alliance was notified that a colony of feral and stray cats was suffering from illness and mistreatment. They assessed the situation and coordinated a plan with other organizations and volunteers to help the cats, including trapping, spaying or neutering and providing medical care.If you'd like to help in some way, Feline Alliance is in need of cat food and blankets to help in situations like this. Send an email to felinealliance@gmail.com or visit the website for more information.Linda is going to come see me this weekend and I asked Marianne to put together a box of blankets and cat food for the organization. I can't bear to think of cold, hungry kitties when I am so lucky to have a nice house, lots of food and toys and a wonderful family. I don't like to talk about where I was before I landed at Almost Home Adoptions, but I'm not cut out to be a feral cat, no matter how ferocious I sometimes pretend to be. At heart I'm a.....well, I'm a pussycat. Always have been, always will be.Chow for now!Dewey (for Mars)Questions or comments for Mars? Would you like to be notified when Mars updates his DogBlog?
