Ross's DogBlog - Mars
Chapter 58
October 22, 2009MARS IS COMING TO DENVER ON NOVEMBER 18.That got your attention, didn't it? But which Mars?
Not Mars the planet. Not Mars the candy company. Not Mars the Roman god of war. Not Mars the melodic death metal rock band (thank goodness).Nope. Give up? The answer is (E) Mars the puppy!Mars will be puppy #7 for John and Marianne (and 7News, of course). He's a black Labrador and Golden Retriever cross. His father, Blaze, is a Golden Retriever, and his mother Nyrobi is 3/4 Lab and 1/4 Golden, which makes Mars...um....(sounds of calculator keys) carry the 2 add 6 times 45 divided by 8 plus pi....um....5/8 Golden and 3/8 Lab.I think.Anyhow, Mars is the red puppy, which means he was born first. He's also big, fluffy (!) and very cuddly, according to Marti, Nyrobi's CCI breeder caretaker. Marti said, "Nyrobi is very sweet and loves to play. She was an attentive mother for the first few weeks but was very happy to turn the feeding over to us (humans) this past Tuesday. The pups took to the weaning food immediately; they are good eaters."I think that's the Lab part, myself. You'll never meet a Lab who doesn't love to eat.Marti also said of the pups, "They all seem to be quick learners and they are a very affectionate group. Mars is particularly interested in a rubber dumbbell that is in the play pen. He likes to put his front paw on it and roll it back and forth. He is a cutie!"Marianne is already besotted with him and he's not even here yet. Yeesh.I'll be at CCI College when Mars arrives, so I won't get to meet him, but I'm OK with that. I won't have to listen to everyone at 7News make a big fuss over how cute he is. I won't have to wait my turn to be noticed, let alone petted. I also won't have to babysit or share my favorite toy or teach him the house rules. HA! The cats and keeper dogs can do those things.Stay tuned for more details and photos.Chow for now!RossQuestions or comments for Ross?
