Ross's DogBlog -- Mulligans For Mutts

Chapter 37

June 4, 2009

It's time once again for the Table Mountain Animal Center's Mulligans for Mutts golf tournament! This year it will be held on Monday, June 8 at 1 PM at the Lakewood Country Club. It's a gorgeous setting for an afternoon of golf and even better, in my humble opinion, mingling with some of my adoptable pals! Come on, what could be more enjoyable on a summer afternoon, especially a MONDAY afternoon, than a round of golf and meeting some wonderful pets looking for new forever homes?

My friend, Julie Bergen, TMAC Director, gave me a few fun facts to share with you:

*Mulligans for Mutts is Table Mountain Animal Center’s largest fundraiser.

*The tournament is a scramble so all golfer levels/handicaps are accommodated.

*The fun also includes a putting contest for a Wall of Wine, hole-in-one challenges (prizes include a 2009 Subaru Legacy from GO Subaru West), dinner and silent auction.

*An entry fee of $185 per golfer includes access to the driving range and putting green, 18 holes of golf, cart rental, door prizes, the silent auction and après golf dinner and drinks. (WOW!)

*I wondered about humans who don't golf, but want to support TMAC and enjoy the lovely Lakewood Country Club. Is there anything for them? Julie assured me that non-golfers are welcome to enjoy cash-bar cocktails, dinner, the silent auction and visiting with adoptable animal guests beginning at 5:30 p.m. for a mere $25. Now that sounds like a deal to me!

*My tax accountant friends will be pleased to know that Table Mountain Animal Center Foundation is a not-for-profit (501c3) organization, and part of the tournament entry fee may be considered a donation. Excellent news.

*Table Mountain Animal Center is a public/private partnership that provides animal care, adoption, education and animal control services to nine municipalities in Jefferson County.

*In 2008, Table Mountain Animal Center cared for more than 10,000 animals. The Center is one of few “open admission” shelters in the state (no animal is turned away) and is the second largest animal center in the Denver metro area.

For more information or to register to play or support Mulligans for Mutts, please visit Mulligans For Mutts or call 720-407-5224.

Have fun, and if you win the putting contest and/or make a hole in one, send me an e-mail and I'll do a special DogBlog for you. Now that's a good incentive to participate, isn't it?

Chow for now!
