DENVER -- It's estimated that one in four dogs will die from canine cancer.Cancer in dogs is similar to cancer in humans and veterinarians are determined to find a cure. The Morris Animal Foundation just started a new campaign and the goal is to raise $30 million for clinical research.
"Dogs have a very high rate of cancer. It is the No. 1 health issue of concern to our founders and donors," said Patricia Olson with the Morris Animal Foundation. All dogs are susceptible but golden retrievers are even more so.Olson said it's estimated that six out of 10 golden retrievers will develop cancer in their lifetime."We're going to think really bold here. We think in the next 10 to 20 years we might actually have some cures for some of these cancers," said Olson.
