It's estimated that more than 17 million dogs in the United States are obese.

So if you're looking for something more than just a walk in the park, look no further.

There are two canine sport clubs here in Denver, one is called the Colorado Disc Dogs.

The club was formed by people who simply love their dogs and love getting outdoors with them. All you need is a frisbee, a willing dog and a passion for the outdoors.

"The very basic level of competition is called toss and catch. It's a one-minute timed round and you see how many throws you can get off in that time," said member Matt Diano.

Colorado Disc Dogs is always looking for new members and said it's not as hard as you think to teach your dog to do some wild tricks.

If your dog prefers something round then you might want to try flyball.

"Flyball is a relay race taking place with four dogs that go down four hurdles, hit a spring-loaded box, catch a tennis ball, turn back around and run back through the four hurdles," said Becky Mueller.

Mueller, with the RUFF Flyball Club, said it's a great way to bond with your dog. She said once your dogs get the hang of, they will love it.

"Most of these dogs would run until they fall over because they have so much fun," said Mueller.

Hiking is another popular way to get your pet outdoors.
