Peter and the Starcatcher playing at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House through September 1

DENVER - The five-time Tony Award-winning musical PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is playing at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver until September 1.

This prequel to Peter Pan features a dozen charismatic actors playing more than a hundred characters -- but the one who steals the show is Blackstache, the hilariously unsuccessful pirate.

The energetic choreography and creative use of props makes you feel like part of the crew as they conspire for control of a trunk full of stardust.

I went with two girlfriends and two 11-year-old girls, and we all had a laugh-out-loud good time.  And the Ellie Caulkins Opera House is the perfect venue for such an enchanting play!

The Broadway set was made almost entirely of recycled materials sent in by venues along the tour route. The proscenium includes Coors bottle caps from Colorado that will tour the country.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER won five 2012 Tony Awards (the most of any play of the 2011-2012 season) and was named one of The New York Times, New York Magazine and The New Yorker’s Top 10 Shows of the Year.
