Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus: Out of This World

What: In town for a second weekend of performances, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will amaze children of all ages.   Experience this family tradition and be mesmerized by performers from around the globe perform daring feats, spectacles of strength and thrills of wonder.

Where:  Denver Coliseum, 4600 Humboldt Street, Denver, Colo.

When:  Thursday – Sunday, various performance times

Pumpkin Festival at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms

What:  Thousands of pumpkins are ripe for the picking at the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms.  Bring your wagon to carry your haul from the 10-acre patch, and enjoy this fall family tradition.  Admission to the festival includes live music, face painting, pony rides and horse-drawn hayrides, carnival games, crafts and more.  Pumpkin prices vary. 

Where:  Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, Colo.

When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. 

Admission: $8 – Adult; $6 – Kids 3-15 years; Kids 2 years and under are free.  (Member discounts.  Corn Maze admission extra.)

Fall Craft Show

What:  Find that unique, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted gift at the annual Highlands Ranch Fall Craft Show.  Over 100 exhibitors will be on hand featuring a diverse array of handcrafted items including jewelry, pottery, wooden crafts, floral arrangements, wreaths, glass vases and bowls, bath products, hand-knit scarves and shawls, plus a variety of other art and apparel. 

Where: Highlands Ranch Recreation Center at Eastridge, 9568 University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, Colo.

When:  Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Punkin Chunkin Colorado

What: You know you’ve always wanted to launch one and now’s your chance.  In fact, this will mark the 19th year of the event that people travel from miles away to attend.  Take part in this crazy tradition that brings out the energy and ingenuity in both young and old.  Plus, enjoy all the favorite family fall festival activities like the pumpkin patch, a fall market, live music, food vendors and a beer garden.  Stick around Saturday night for a concert featuring Josh Abbott Band (separate ticket is required.)

Where: Arapahoe Park Racetrack, 26000 E. Quincy Avenue, Aurora, Colo.

When: Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.  (Saturday concert starts at 7 p.m.)

Admission: $5; Kids 12 years and under are free. (Saturday concert tickets are $15 and are also good for entry into festival on Sunday.)

NoCo Mini Makers Faire

What:  As Colorado’s largest maker festival, this event promises to inspire, excite and educate tinkers and creators of all ages.  Explore the world of science, technology and arts through hands-on activities that will be enjoyed by the whole family.  

Where: The Ranch Event Center, 5280 Arena Circle, Loveland, Colo.

When:  Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 

Admission: $12 – Adults; $8 – Kids 4-18 years; Kids 3 years and under are free. (Discounts available online.)

Harvest Festival

What:  It’s another quintessential fall festival, this time at the Littleton Museum.  Visit the historic 1860s farm to pick out the perfect pumpkin.  Plus you’ll enjoy the historic demonstrations, hayrides and other family friendly activities.     

Where: Littleton Museum, 6028 S. Gallup Street, Littleton, Colo.

When:  Saturday: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 

Admission: Free (Refreshments and some activities may charge a fee.)

Festival of Scarecrows

What:  Scarecrows of all shapes and sizes will stand guard, as Old Town Square is transformed into a pumpkin patch. It’s a fall festival full of everything from hayrides and a corn maze to scarecrow and giant pumpkin contests.  Plus food booths, music, kids crafts, games and more.  And all little ghosts and goblins are invited to march in the kids costume parade at noon.

Where: Arvada Ole Town Square, W. 57th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth, Arvada, Colo.
