Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  St. Patrick’s Day is Friday so get your Irish on, but wondering what to do with the rest of your weekend?  Well, here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in Denver this weekend.  

Thursday - Sunday

Harlem Globetrotters

What: The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters are making a stop in Denver, with three shows this weekend.  Catch a performance to see why they have been thrilling and entertaining millions of fans for over 90 years.

Where: 1st Bank Center, 11450 Broomfield Lane, Broomfield, Colo.; Pepsi Center, 1000 Chopper Circle, Denver, Colo.; and Budweiser Events Center, 5290 Arena Circle, Loveland, Colo.

When: Thursday: 7 p.m. at 1st Bank Center; Saturday: 1 p.m. at Pepsi Center; and Sunday: 2 p.m. at Budweiser Event Center

Admission: Tickets start at $19, but vary by venue.

The Edge Grand Opening Weekend at Denver Zoo

What: The wait is over! The Denver Zoo’s new tiger exhibit opens to the public this Friday.  The Edge is a one-acre exhibit designed to mimic the tiger’s natural environment, and will provide you with a unique viewing area from which to watch these majestic creatures.  What better way to enjoy the spring-like weather this weekend, then with a visit to the Denver Zoo.

Where: Denver Zoo, 2300 Steele Street, Denver, Colo.

When: Daily: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Exhibit opens on Friday.)

Admission: General Admission: $17 - Adults; $12 - Kids 3-11 years; Members and Kids 2 years and under are free.

Denver Home Show

What: Planning to remodel, update or simply need help finishing your honey-do list?  This is your one-stop-shop, your chance to visit with companies ready to introduce new technologies and trends in home improvements and landscaping. There will be no excuses after attending this show.

Where:  National Western Complex, 4655 Humboldt Street, Denver, Colo.

When: Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Admission: Adults - $11; Kids 12 years and under are free. (Discount tickets available online.)

Spring Break at Denver Art Museum

What: Planning a stay-cation for Spring Break?  Well spend a day at the Denver Art Museum.   Your family will enjoy hand-on art activities, special performances and more throughout the museum. 

Where: Denver Art Museum, 100 W. 14th Avenue Parkway, Denver, Colo.

When: Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Special activities run through April 2nd.)

Admission: $10 – Adult General Admission; Kids 18 years and under and Members are free. (Note that a separate ticket is required for special exhibitions.)

Spring Craft Bazaar

What:  This annual event attracts a multitude of unique vendors.  From handcrafted items to commercial retailers, this show will feature over 100 exhibitors displaying jewelry, accessories, candles, dolls and more.

Where: Highlands Ranch Recreation Center at Eastridge, 9568 University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, Colo.

When: Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

CU Wizards: Chemistry of Life

What: Join Nobel Laureate and Distinguished CU Professor Tom Cech for a journey through chemistry from beakers to living cells.  These free, monthly interactive STEM shows are geared towards students K-12 and families, but all ages are welcome. 

Where: University of Colorado at Boulder, Cristol Chemistry Building, Room 140, Boulder, Colo.

When: Saturday: 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

Bumblebee Jamboree

What: Dance and sing like a butterfly.  Dress as your favorite pollinator and join entertaining duo Jeff and Paige for a special live musical performance.  This family-friendly indoor concert will be fun for kids of all ages, but note there are a limited number of concert tickets so buy online ahead of time.

Where: Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street, Denver, Colo.

When: Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Admission: $12 – Adults; $7 – Kids; (Member discounts available; kids 2 years and under are free.)
