Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  As the summer winds down, get outside and enjoy our beautiful weather at some of the great outdoor events happening around town.  Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in Denver this weekend.  

Friday - Saturday

Festival on Main

What: This family-friendly, signature summer event will shut down Main Street in Longmont and fill with live music and dance, street performers, great food and a beer garden.  And the kids will keep busy with a climbing wall, bounce houses, and other hands-on activities. 

Where:  Main Street, between 3rd Avenue and Longs Peak, Downtown Longmont, Colo.

When: Friday: 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. and Saturday: 1 p.m.-9 p.m.

Admission: Free (Some activities will charge a small fee.)

Serevi RugbyTown 7s Fan Appreciation Day

What:  The best rugby teams and players from around the world will converge upon Glendale’s Infinity Park this weekend to play in the annual Serevi RugbyTown 7s International Tournament.  Kick off the weekend early as tournament pool play begins Friday at noon.  Admission is free for Free Fan Friday. 

Where:  Infinity Park, 4599 E. Tennessee Avenue, Glendale, Colo.

When:  Friday: 12 p.m.-9 p.m. (Gates open at 11 a.m.)

Admission: Free (Tickets required for Saturday and Sunday matches)

Music and a Movie: Princess Bride

What:  One of the many free outdoor concerts and movies happening this weekend is at Centennial Center Park.  Bring your lawn chair or blanket to enjoy an evening of music and a movie under the stars, featuring 60’s era cover band The Modniks, followed by the fun family film, Princess Bride.  Food vendors will also be available.      

Where: Centennial Center Park, 13050 E. Peakview Avenue, Centennial, Colo.

When:  Friday: 7 p.m.  (Movie starts at dusk)

Evergreen Fine Arts Festival

What: This annual event features distinguished artists from around the U.S., displaying original creations in all mediums including paintings, sculptures, glass, ceramics and weavings.  Live entertainment and food vendors will keep you moving and fueled as you wander through the exhibitors.     

Where: Heritage Grove Park, 4208 Timbervale Drive, Evergreen, Colo.

When: Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Oktoberfest Season Kick-off

What: It’s never too early to start your Oktoberfest training.  This festival will get you in the spirit with authentic German music, dancing, food and beer.  Plus, there will be plenty of space for the kids to run.

Where: T.E.V. Edelweiss Pavilion, 17832 Hwy 8, Morrison, Colo.

When: Saturday: 12 p.m.-11 p.m.; and Sunday: 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

Admission: $5 – Adults; $3 – Kids 6-15 years old; Kids 5 years and under are free.

What:  See what fruits and veggies are in season at The Cherry Creek Fresh Market. Browse the high quality mix of local growers and unique gourmet food vendors representing the best of the Rocky Mountain Region.  Visitors will also enjoy chef events and live music.

Affordable Arts Festival

What: Finally, an art festival that won’t break the bank!  Over 140 local and national artists will gather to sell unique pieces of art, all of which will be priced at $100 or less.  Ticket sale proceeds benefit the Arapahoe Community College Foundation to help students with scholarships.

Where: Arapahoe Community College Lawn, 5900 S. Santa Fe, Littleton, Colo.

When: Sunday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Admission: $5 – Adults; Kids under 12 years are free.
