Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in Denver this weekend.  

Thursday - Sunday

Butterflies at Chatfield

What: Butterflies have headed south for the summer.  The Butterfly Pavilion’s seasonal butterfly house is open at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms.  This one-of-a-kind butterfly experience features hundreds of butterflies native to Colorado, as well as over 50 indigenous Colorado plant species.   Note this exhibit requires a separate admission ticket.

Where: Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, Colo.

When: Daily: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Butterfly exhibit open through October. Check website for periodic closure dates.)

Admission: $4 – Non-Members; $2 – Denver Botanic Gardens or Butterfly Pavilion Members; Kids 2 years and under are free.  Non-Members also required to pay Chatfield Farms entry fee of $5 per vehicle.

Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival

What: Corn lovers of all ages will love the Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival in downtown Loveland.  This family-friendly event will include a parade, corn shucking and corn eating contests, Cornhole tournament, live music and entertainment, vendors, plus all the corn you can eat.  

Where:  Downtown Loveland, between Railroad Avenue and 4th Street, Loveland, Colo.

When:  Friday: 5 p.m.-10 p.m. and Saturday: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

Admission: Free (Corn available for purchase.)

Denver Pet Expo

What: Grab Fido’s leash and head to the Denver Pet Expo where you’ll find obedience and pet care demonstrations, discounts on your favorite pet products, animal adoptions, contests, and other fun activities for you and your pet.

When: Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Golden Fine Arts Festival

What:  Visit historic Golden for the 26th annual Fine Arts Festival, known for its quality, affordability and ambiance.   Browse over 130 local and national artists featuring painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry and more.  Plus, live music, food vendors, and art activities for the kids.

Where: Historic Downtown Golden, on 11th Street between Maple and Arapahoe, Golden, Colo.

When: Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Lafayette Peach Festival

What:  It’s peachy!  Peach pies, peach cobbler, peach smoothies and other peachy treats.  Enjoy the world famous Palisade, Colorado peaches in many form.  The festival will also include antique dealers, artists from around the region, art demonstrations, kids’ activities, live music and more.

Where:  Old Town Lafayette on Public Road, Lafayette, Colo.

When:  Saturday: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Fun at the Firehouse

What:  Celebrate local firefighters and emergency responders with a free day at the Denver Firefighters Museum.   Kids of all ages will enjoy a variety of activities in this historic 1909 fire station.

When:  Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (Event activities from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
