Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in Denver this weekend.  

Thursday - Sunday

Jeffco Fair and Festival

What:  In the spirit of the county fair, Jefferson County debuts a re-imagined event this weekend that includes all you’d expect from a county fair, plus engaging and interactive experiences that focus on community.  Highlights include rodeos, mutton bustin’, 4-H exhibits, kids’ discovery zone, live music, magic show, a movie night, food, craft beer and more.   

Where: Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 West 6th Avenue, Golden, Colo.

When: Thursday: 12 p.m.-10 p.m.; Friday: 12 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Admission:  Gate Admission:  $5 – Adults; Kids 12 years and under are free.  (Note: Some events require a separate ticketed admission.  Check website for details.)

Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival

What: Celebrate the rich agricultural heritage of Wheat Ridge at this annual festival featuring live music, an arts and craft fair, an exotic Italian car show, kids’ activities, food, fireworks and more.  And back by popular demand, the Zoppe Italian Family Circus returns as the main festival attraction.  

Where: Anderson Park, 4355 Field Street, Wheat Ridge, Colo.

When: Friday: 4 p.m-11 p.m.; Saturday: 12 p.m.-11 p.m.; and Sunday: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest

What:  Three days and over 80 live acts.  It’s a music-lovers paradise!  This annual free community festival showcases Colorado musicians from a variety of genres, and features national headliners including DeVotchKa and The Fray.  Plus, art and vendor booths, and a kids’ music adventure zone, equipped to entertain all budding musicians.

Where: Old Town Square and Library Park, Historic Downtown Ft. Collins, Colo.

When:  Friday: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Boulder Asian Festival

What:  Celebrate Asian cultural at this annual summer tradition on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall.  The festival will showcase arts and crafts, food and musical performances from local Asian and Pacific Islander communities

Where:  Pearl Street Mall, 1300 Block of Pearl Street, Boulder, Colo.

When:  Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Erie Air Fair

What:  Get an up close and personal tour of unique small aircraft at this educational and fun event.   Listen to live music, and maybe even take a helicopter or airplane ride.  Plus, a kids’ adventure zone, vendor booths, food, beer and more.   It’s fun for aviation buffs of all ages.  

Where: Erie Municipal Airport, 395 Airport Drive, Erie, Colo.

When: Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Admission: Free (Helicopter and airplane rides available for a fee.)

Street Food Soiree

What: It’s a food truck taste off and concert.  Enjoy a night of phenomenal food featuring Colorado’s top gourmet food trucks each offering their signature dish at an inexpensive small portion price.  Bring some lawn chairs and hang out while enjoying live music from Long Run, an Eagles tribute band, plus activities for the kids.

Centennial Under the Stars

What:  Grab your blankets and folding chairs.  This year’s annual event will feature live music from headliner Under a Blood Red Sky, the U2 tribute band, plus food and family activities.   The evening will end with a dazzling laser light show that is sure to amaze.

Where:  Centennial Center Park, 13050 E. Peakview Avenue, Centennial, Colo.

When:  Saturday: 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
