Colo. Remembers Fallen Service Members

A Radiothon To Help Build Freedom Memorial

In honor of Memorial Day, local radio station KEZW 1430 AM held a one-day radiothon to raise money for the Colorado Freedom Memorial. The project would cost $1.5 million dollars to build and would include glass panels with the names of the more than 6,000 Coloradans who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

One of the names that would be on the memorial is Lance Cpl. Thomas Jonathan Slocum. He was the first Coloradan to be killed in the line of duty serving the Iraq war.

"I think it's awesome to have a place for people to see first hand of all the sacrifices Coloradans have made," said Slocum's mother Terry Cooper.

The radiothon will end at 6 p.m Friday. You can find more information on the Colorado Freedom Memorial to at cfmf.net.
