J.J. Abrams still onboard Star Wars
J.J. ABRAMS is still hard at work on the next STAR WARS movie despite online rumors suggesting he had walked away from the project.
The director is taking charge of a new installment in the legendary space franchise, Star Wars: Episode VII, which will begin filming in the U.K. early next year (14), but online gossip recently sparked speculation he had quit.
However, bosses at Lucasfilm, the production company behind the movie, have now spoken out to dismiss the story, insisting Abrams is still committed to his work on Star Wars.
A statement from Lucasfilm reads, "There is no truth to the rumor (that he has quit). J.J. is having a great time working on the script and is looking forward to going into production next year."
Plans to shoot Star Wars: Episode VII began after creator George Lucas' Lucasfilm company was sold to Disney last year (13). The blockbuster is expected to be the first installment of a new trilogy.
