ABC's "Bachelor" star Gia Allemand, 29, has died of an apparent suicide, the family said Wednesday.
"While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt," her family said in a statement.
Anderson called 911 and Allemand was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans where she was put on life support, according to the statement.
"Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn (Wednesday)," the statement continued. "Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side.
An earlier statement from her publicist given Tuesday said that Allemand was taken to University Hospital following "a serious emergency medical event" Monday night.
Allemand, a Maxim model, was best known for appearing on ABC reality shows "The Bachelor" and "Bachelor Pad" in 2010.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
