Kathleen E. Woodiwiss

Historical/11th Century Saxony (England)

Overall:

Sensuality:
Cover Cheese:

Her father murdered and family holdings overtaken by Normans, Aislinn of Darkenwald's virginity is claimed as war booty by the savage, bloodthirsty Ragnor.

His commander, Wulfgar, usurps Ragnor's possession of her, and Aislinn is forced into the bed of the feared and esteemed Iron Wolf of Normandy.

Aislinn is ashamed and confused when she finds she desires the surprising tenderness of Wulfgar's lovemaking.

To save what's left of her dignity, Aislinn refuses to succumb willingly, yet vows to win the love of Wulfgar, who swears he values no woman

Don't expect that Kathleen Woodiwiss glosses over the fact that Aislinn's been sorely abused; this may be Old School romance, but it's got a decidedly feminist bent.

And, Woodiwiss creates intrigue and action enough to keep one racing to the end, then sighing in disappointment when it's over.
