A despondent Jane Austen fan once called this novel "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife -- Over and Over Again." So if you're an Austen purist, dear, read no further lest your tender sensibilities be offended.

But if like me, you worship "Pride and Prejudice," yet can manage a sense of humor about a decidedly clever and witty treatment of the Darcy's post-nuptial life, the hot and saucy "Mr. Darcy" is just for you.

In it, Berdoll captures the essential natures of Elizabeth and Darcy, but with a kind of passion even Charlotte Bronte once remarked was absent from Austen's work.

Playfully irreverent -- the classic Anti-Classic, if you will -- "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife" is a yummy treat for those of us who love our lit, but who just might have dreamed of Fitzwilliam Darcy in a way not universally acknowledged as entirely proper.
