'Idol' Voters Take Simon's Cue, Make Savol Pack His Bags

Controversial "American Idol" contestant Scott Savol was voted off Wednesday night, narrowing the field of finalists to four.
Savol drew unwanted attention in late March when the investigative Web site The Smoking Gun reported that he was once arrested for felony domestic violence after he allegedly roughed up his infant son's mother during a Valentine's Day incident in 2001.After Savol entered a plea bargain in the case, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.
Just over a week ago "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell told Savol "start packing your bags" -- but audiences shocked Cowell and fellow judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson by voting off popular contestant Constantine Maroulis.The remaining finalists on the show are Bo Bice, Anthony Federov, Vonzell Solomon and Carrie Underwood.Wednesday's vote was a disappointment for organizers of votefortheworst.com, a Web site that was urging people to vote for Savol because it would be "entertaining and hilarious" for him to win.The Web site became a victim of its own popularity when a crush of visitors led to its shutdown Tuesday night.
